Why Should I Insulate?
Most building products used in housing have a very low resistance to heat transfer, or R-value. The addition of ceiling insulation, wall insulation and floor insulation is therefore important to maintain comfort within the home. Most new homes have ceiling insulation at the very least, but many older homes - equating to approximately 40% of Australia's housing stock - are not insulated at all and therefore lose heat in winter and let in heat in summer. This means that too many people are wasting unnecessary money on heating and cooling because their homes are not adequately protected by insulation.
Uninsulated homes can be very expensive to air condition, so the purpose of home insulation is to save you money on energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint. An uninsulated ceiling is responsible for up to 35% of a homes heat loss/gain. Ceiling insulation can save a typical home-owner up to $200-$400 a year on energy bills.
Luckily, the Australian Government is offering generous insulation rebates to help home-owners or renters to install ceiling insulation, making home insulation very affordable. There has never been a better time to insulate your home and start enjoying cheaper bills and a more comfortable environment
